Gary, this is SO awesome! I read your blog story just now almost a month later in regard to the "Close Encounter of the Flesh Ripping Kind," but was amazed at your story . Your description of catching this image was delightful becasue I usually catch mine in the morning or evening oing to and from work and i (unfortunately) don't have a lot of excess time...but i am training myself to use that manfrotto Tripod now, more than the Manfrotto Momopod....Thes e tomes are amazing and the light and sun are just fantastic - A truly magnificent piece here :-) And, By the way, Barbara (my wife who worked in hosptals as a unit secretary , including Kaiser downtown Sac, and with surgeons, as an office manager altogether for about 30 years) anyway, Barbara says you "He shoulda got stitches.!!" cheers sir

Thanks, Denny. Yeah, for landscapes you need to ditch the monopod and stick with a tripod. Barbara is totally right—I don't mind the scar (it kinda makes me look rugged), but I was very lucky it didn't get infected. The thing was still oozing a week later. :)

Stunning ahot! Amazing! What beautiful colors.. so impressive. The scene is really wonderful, and those rays of light through the trees are as a ray of hope... sometimes small but always strong!
