Dogwood Blooms, Merced River, Yosemite

Posted by
Gary Hart (California, United States) on 16 July 2012 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Lot's of people know about bracketing, but the vast majority of digital shooters do it for the wrong reason. I explain here, using the story of my capture of these dogwood blooms in Yosemite to illustrate.

This is so pristine and elegant, GAry. The soft sparkles of the sunlight on the water seem like footlights on a stage. And teh placement of these leaves and blossoms on teh branch could only have been done by a special force with a special frame of mind...and waited for you ;-) Hope the show went well the other day...All the best Denny

Stunning. Thanks for the little lesson in anti-bracketing vs. proper exposure. Kudos on a great image.

This is a beautiful composition - I love the way the bright bokeh background mimics the graceful arc of the limb and its blooms. Nicely done!

this is very pretty...
I like very much the curve of light spots in the background...kind of the opposite to the foreground composition.....very effective in my opinion
