Winter Star Trail Reflection, Half Dome, Yosemite

Posted by
Gary Hart (California, United States) on 22 March 2012 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Night photography has become a big part of my personal photography and my workshops. In last month's Yosemite winter workshop, I took the group out after dinner to photograph Half Dome on a moonless night. To give me time to assist everyone, I decided to do a single long exposure rather than multiple shorter exposures. I write more about it here.

Upcoming workshops

Yosemite winter, spring, and fall; New Zealand; Grand Canyon; Death Valley; Eastern Sierra; Maui; Hawaii's Big Island; Columbia River Gorge

This is just fantastic, Gary! The river is doing a magnificent reflection number here..and the stars look as if they are bouncing off a wall like a tennis ball and bouncing back at the appropriate angle! Amazing ....

Oh my! I am always disappointed with my own tries at nighttime photography....I'd better read your blog post! This is so amazingly clear and beautiful- I can imagine myself there, feeling the cold!
