Pu'u O'o Night Eruption, Kilauea, Hawaii

Posted by
Gary Hart (California, United States) on 5 October 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

I took my workshop group to the Jagger Museum Kilauea Caldera overlook to photograph Halema`uma`u Crater, which has glowed brightly since 1984. But while we were there, clouds on the eastern horizon lifted to reveal the fiery glow of Pu'u O'o Crater, which had just started flowing earlier in the day. You can read more about that amazing experience right here.

Wild volcanic light!! The only odd light we get here is the light from our huge tomato greenhouses on a cloudy night and an occassional aurora borealis ;) Beautiful capture!
