Moonset, Mt. Whitney, Alabama Hills (California)

I've been in a Hawaii for the last couple of weeks and fell a little behind. As I prepared for my Hawaii adventure, I got thinking about how much more productive my photography is when I'm familiar with my location. Here's a moonset from the Alabama Hills and a few thoughts on familiarity.

Fabulous image, Gary - This is a true "Moonset Surprise"..The view's attention may be first caught by the light shining off Mt Whitney there, but then the eyes roam around the Alabama Hills and that beautiful reddish brown color...then, whoops!, there's the moon!! I love the perspective and positioning you have employed here..such a lesson in drawing and keeping the viewer's interest, and a true testament to the familiarity that you talk about, as well as making the scene all the more unique and delightful...This is an instant favorite! All the best, Gary - I know you are busy but I am enjoying following you ;-)
