Winter workshop at Tunnel View, Yosemite

Sometimes I wonder why, with all the incredible beauty in our world, photographers can be such an unhappy lot (present company excepted, of course). I blog my thoughts on the subject here.

Hi Gary - I really love this image - always have - and I also really like your opening teaser to the text on your blog (which I will have to read tonight, thanks to the "Blog Barrier Barrons" here at work). I think I know where you may be be going: ...We expect, in our mind, that things shall be "just so," as we lead up to the actual visit of the "place," wherever that may be...If, upon arrival, things are not as "expected" (thanks to our own stringent minds)we grouse and mumble and sulk. I TRY to follow what I call "The John Candy philospphy": Quoting a line of his from "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", John's line was "...I Go with the flow like a twig on the shoulders of a mighty stream!"....From the mouths of comedic geniuses come words for us to live by. And from your wonderful images and lessons, come examples for us to strive for. Your work is ALWAYS so inspiring...All the best Gary!!

This is wonderful, Gary, and I laughed while reading your blog about your workshop group. I hope you all enjoyed your breakfasts! ;D
We had a 'test' last Saturday where a friend urged us not to miss the 'best part' by leaving early! I'll link her to this shot and your blog!

Gary I started in junior high with an old film camera photographing people and fell in love with that, shoot families, sports and theater. I photograph landscape and wildlife for fun (I had written “I shoot wildlife for fun” but that did not sound right) but for some reason the birds don't want to buy my photos , , , . Totally surprised me I returned to portrait work when I returned to photography after a long hiatus but followed my “happy” meter which of course is hard wired to my heart! Great article.
