Bridalveil Dogwood, Yosemite

Posted by
Gary Hart (California, United States) on 8 January 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

I'll continue posting images on Aminus3, but I'm moving my blog to WordPress. To read more about this image, read Every picture has a story at http://www.eloquentnature.wordpress.com.

Just so I'm clear, I'm not leaving Aminus3, nor am I endorsing WordPress over Aminus3. It's just that WordPress offers more of what I need to take my business to the next level. But I can tell you already that the start-up on WordPress is a lot more complicated than Aminus3, and I suspect day-to-day management is a lot more complicated as well. But we'll see how it goes there, and how I'm able to blend the two blogs.

In a perfect world (one with infinite time), I'd make my Aminus3 blog more specific to photographers, and target my WordPress blog to a larger, more general audience. I'm just not sure I'm going to have time to do that, so my short-term plan is to write only on WordPress and post the same images here on Aminus3, with a link over to WordPress. (You may notice right away that my WordPress blog is more general, less photographer-specific.) I hope that once I get more comfortable over there I'll be able to dedicate more time here (largely because I love the community here). But in the meantime, be patient, and please come visit me in my new world.

Sorry to see you won't be posting your stories to AM3 anymore :( But I'll be sure to check out your wordpress - I can't believe the dogwoods are already flowering! I like how you can see the spiederweb in that bottom dogwood - nice detail :)

@Elora: Thanks, Elora. I haven't quite decided how I'm going to handle this change, but I have no plans to leave Aminus3 (though you may see images I've already posted, like this one). It's just that WordPress gives me a little more flexibility for what I want to do, and it gives me a little more exposure. But Aminus3 is a fantastic community, and in addition to the community, there are things at Aminus3 I prefer, so this transition is very much a work in progress. FYI, the dogwoods won't flower until April or May--this is from a few years ago.

Amazing DOF at 48mm, f/22. You must have been VERY close to the flower?

@Henrik Herskind: Thanks, Henrik. With an extension tube on a wide angle lens, the dogwood was actually touching the front element of my lens.

beautiful composition with excellent DOF and focus on the flower and water droplets!

Love the dewy dogwood! I too have a Wordpress blog - and it is a bit more tedious until you get the hang of it. Right now, I'm not posting too much on either - need to get my act together!
