New Moon and Oaks, El Dorado Hills, California

Posted by
Gary Hart (California, United States) on 26 April 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

As promised, here's the composition that matches my previous image, with the new moon added. I took this about 2 1/2 weeks later. I love the moon in this shot, and the subtle transition of color that represents the movement of day to night.

I prefer the color and clouds in the other image, which I think makes it a bit more dramatic. But the delicate crescent adds a peaceful component that seems to be more in tune with the less electric sky. To me, this image soothes while the previous image stimulates.

Just enough ground to make the silhouette work, the rounded shape is actually quite interesting. The yellow to blue, with the moon is a great sky shot. Well done.

I can almost hear the crickets in the stillness as I sit and look at the moon.
