Crescent Moonrise, Yosemite

Posted by
Gary Hart (California, United States) on 16 March 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Putting the moon in your image (without Photoshop shenanigans!) requires just a little homework. In fact it has reached the point where most of my workshops are scheduled around the moon and include at least one night of night photography. While this sounds like a great marketing idea, the fact is I think it's a blast and I'd do it anyway, customers or not.

This was early one morning last spring. When I computed the position of the moonrise I couldn't believe it--I don't think I could have positioned it better if I'd have just pasted the moon into my image.
